2006 Chapter Accomplishments

·        Awarded two $250 book scholarship stipends to two of GCBDPA’s graduating high school seniors.

·        Sent three students to the BDPA National Conference in Los Angeles to attend the BDPA National Youth Technology Camp August 2-5, 2006.  The Youth Technology Camp was held in conjunction with the BDPA Annual National Technology Conference.

·        Held several TechTini events and Tech Lunch events during the year to promote technical and professional development among IT professionals in the Midlands.

·        Graduated 17 students from our High School Computer Training Program on May 20, 2006.

·        Trained 20+ students in our High School Computer Training Program, which was held from February – May, 2006.  Classes were held on Saturdays at Midlands Technical College, NE Campus.

·        Held a one-day technology conference in support of the Black Family Technology Awareness Week events.  Conference was held at Midlands Technical College, NE Campus.  Workshops and hands-on seminars were presented on a variety of IT topics.  The public was invited and families were encouraged to attend.
